Towns across Oxfordshire join together to celebrate independent businesses
Market towns across Oxfordshire are joining together in celebration of Small Business Saturday on 5th December, promoting the wealth and variety of independent businesses in the county.
Small Business Saturday is a nationwide event which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.
The Mayors of Wallingford, Abingdon, Burford, Faringdon and Woodstock will be touring as many independent retailers in their towns as possible, taking photos and tweeting using #smallbizsatuk to join in with the national social media campaign.
In Thame, a variety of workshops, a small business reception plus drop-in business surgeries have been planned to help offer support to those trading in the town.
In Carterton, the town’s Small Business Saturday will be celebrated alongside the Christmas Festival with stalls and children’s entertainment in the new Market Place.
Faringdon Mayor, Cllr Mike Wise, said ‘Independent businesses are the beating heart of our market towns and our communities. They make our towns the unique places that they are. I’m delighted to be involved in this year’s Small Business Saturday’
Helen Johns of Thame4Business said ‘Small Business Saturday gives us a great opportunity to support our local businesses at a grassroots level to help them to develop and flourish’
Wallingford Mayor, Cllr Lynda Atkins, ‘I’m delighted to be working with my fellow Mayors and towns across the county to promote our activities for Small Business Saturday. Our independent businesses are the lifeblood of our towns and I’m proud to be celebrating them’
