Notice of Temporary Traffic Order
Faringdon, Market Place
Prohibition of Vehicles
Date of Order: 1 August 2022
Coming into force: 8 August 2022
This Order is being introduced because of footway reconstruction around all sides of the Market square which is anticipated to be completed 26 August 2022. Works will operate between 07:00 and 19:00hrs weekdays.
The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding or waiting in all sides of Market Place and in Church Street to the junction with Swan Lane.
Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.
Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.
Suspension of 7.5t environmental weight limit as part of the approved diversion route. The alternative route for traffic wishing to use Market Place will be diverted from the A417 using Gloucester Street/Marlborough Street, to turn south along Park Road, to turn north along the A420 bypass, to turn back into Faringdon using the A4095 London Street returning back to Market Place, and vice versa. Through traffic using the A4095 will be diverted back north along the A4095 through Clanfield to Bampton, to turn east onto the B4449 High Street following it around into Buckland Road heading south, to cross the River Thames to Buckland, west along the A420, into Faringdon using the A4095 London Street returning to Market Place, and vice versa
The relevant part of the Oxfordshire County Council, Oxfordshire 7.5 Tonne Maximum Gross Weight Restriction) Order 2007 (as amended) will be temporarily suspended to enable heavy vehicles to use the diversion.
This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.
