We are planning essential maintenance on the A419 southbound carriageway between A420
White Hart Junction and Commonhead Junction.
What are the benefits to road users?
Our work will provide a safer and smoother journey for road users. We will also take the opportunity
to carry out any routine work; gully cleaning, vegetation clearance etc. Doing this during the
planned closure will reduce the need for future closures.
What work is being carried out?
The main areas of work will be carriageway resurfacing as well as drainage improvements and
repairs.
When is the work taking place?
18 July – 19 August 2022
Traffic restrictions – check before you travel
All southbound lanes will also be closed overnight from 20:00 hours until 06:00 hours on the
following dates:
• Monday 18 July – Friday 22 July
• Monday 25 July – Friday 29 July
• Monday 01 August – Friday 05 August
• Monday 08 August – Friday 12 August
• Monday 15 August – Friday 19 August
Please note that the dates may change due to weather conditions.
Diversion route
The approved diversion route will be signed.
Traffic will exit at the White Hart Roundabout and follow the A4312 towards Swindon. Continue
along A4312 until the junction with A4259 where they will exit towards M4. Continue along A4259
until they re-join the A419 southbound at Commonhead junction.
Please note I have included diversion map at the end of this letter.
Future closures
There will also be 2 full weekend closures on this section in late summer to carry out structural
maintenance and repairs. We will be in touch with you again closer to the dates to give you exact
details of these closures to allow you to plan your travel.
